About the event

This fun after-school program covers an introduction to gardening, learning how to plant, grow, harvest and share the delicious fruit, vegetables and herbs the children and their carers grow.

These sessions are suitable for 6 to 12-year-olds and run weekly in line with the Wednesday garden market. You can pay as you go to suit busy schedules and don't have to be garden members to come along to these sessions, they are open to all. Carers must stay with children for the whole session.

Activities can include almost anything. Think soil preparation, planting seeds, caring for plants, harvesting, visiting the chooks, feeding the worm farm and composting and more. They will help build habitat for wildlife and learn some garden ecology.

We have a longer kids in the kitchen sessions which connect the garden to the kitchen. Check out wcg3280.org.au/kids to book.

We acknowledge the Peek Whurrong People of the Maar Nation as the original custodians of the land on which we meet and garden. Our garden adjoins a significant place, we continue to learn its history as we work together in a spirit of reconciliation.
