Warrnambool Community Garden is hosting its inaugural harvest festival, Harfest, in the quarry amphitheatre.

Featuring talented local musicians, comedians, and vendors, this vibrant celebration invites the community to come together in a stunning garden setting. The Garden’s Open Day was recently recognised as Warrnambool City Council’s Event of the Year, highlighting the diverse benefits this space brings to the community.
Harfest on Saturday, March 15, from 3 – 7pm will be a vibrant celebration of seasonal bounty in the once-abandoned quarry. Guests can enjoy an afternoon of great company, delicious food, and the beauty of the great outdoors.
Centred on a diverse line-up of bands, DJs and comedy acts this special event promises to be a joyful gathering of community and a key fundraiser for the work of the community garden, one of Warrnambool’s most-loved assets.
Families are in for a treat with a dedicated youth zone, ensuring that children have an entertaining and engaging experience. For adults, the garden bar will be stocked with local beer, wine and botanical cocktails.
“The garden is run by community, for community so we’re excited to be welcoming everyone in for this major event to help raise essential funds for the garden to keep going.” Convenor, Courtney Mathew shared.
“Harfest offers the perfect opportunity to come together, share a picnic, relax, and bask in the wonderful atmosphere, or hit the dance floor and groove to the beats of fantastic bands and DJs.”
Dreams for transforming the old quarry - which makes up a third of the garden’s site - have been part of the vision since the garden’s inception in 2007. This year, that vision takes another significant step forward with the next phase of development in the forest gully.
The quarry project has gained state-wide and national recognition through the 2022 Premier’s Sustainability Awards and the Banksia Sustainability Awards. Its debut event in 2023 was a sell-out, and this year’s celebration is shaping up to be just as popular.
The garden is offering people the opportunity to volunteers to contribute to the event’s success. Volunteers will receive free tickets and can sign up for two-hour shifts.
